It detects whether the temperature of the metal is too hot for the temperature you have chosen, and adjusts it accordingly. If it is too hot, then it switches off automatically and switches back on when it is not hot enough anymore to heat up the water according to your desired temperature. The blue scale on the dial represents the cold water and the red one is for hot water. The light switch tells you whether the metal pipe inside is still heating up, otherwise it means that it is already hot enough for the water to be heated according to the temperature you have adjusted it to. It has its own pump that constantly gets water from the main water supply making you enjoy every single minute in your shower.
