2012 Free Superbowl Picks: Lucky Eight

Eight teams remain to battle it out to the Superbowl, so who will arrive most victorious of all? Let's check and find out.

Green Bay Packers

Considered as the favorite to Superbowl with odds of 2 to 1 in certain sportsbooks sites online, there is a lot of sentiment that the Green Bay Packers could be in for a shock in the post season. The road to winning the Superbowl is definitely littered with some amazing teams such as the team that ended its chances of winning the Super Bowl in 2008 – the Giants.

QB Aaron Rodgers will have had 20 straight days without game action when he steps on the field this weekend and that could be problematic. There could be no doubt that this could be the best team in football but will it show? We all know that the Super Bowl can be quite unpredictable and the best team doesn't always win the Super Bowl but could be the free Superbowl picks to really nail it.

New England Patriots

Odds to win 2.85 to 1 at certain sportsbook sites.

The gang of QB Tom Brady were favored greatly to have to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team that beat them and beat them up the first go around this year, but thanks to some Tebow Magic, the Pats now get the significantly easier Broncos, whom they mauled on the road just a weeks ago. It seems like an easy walk to the AFC Championship Game from here, but is this team really tough in the post season?

New Orleans Saints

Each time we see more of QV Drew Brees throw the football, the more that we realize that the Saints have great chances at winning the whole shebang. Odds at certain sites gave 3.85 to 1, it's not bad. They are definitely going to be rooting for the Giants this week against the Packers to try to get the NFC Championship Game back in the Bayou, but in all likelihood, Brees and the gang know that they still need to get past Lambeau Field, where their season began with a loss this year to get to the Super Bowl. The game this week against San Fran is being overlooked by most though, so don't be shocked if the boys from New Orleans are going to get sent packing this weekend.

Baltimore Ravens

It has been a long time since QB Joe Flacco and company played a home game in the playoffs. The odds by sportsbook sites gives 7 to 1 to these dudes. Now they have a home game against a team that has only won its first playoff game last week. The Texans has no chance whatsoever when these two teams meet again on Sunday with QB TJ Yates calling the shots instead. Baltimore is a scary, scary choice out of the AFC playoffs at this point.

San Francisco 49ers

Not the most respected team this year, they're given 15 to 1 odds at certain sportsbook online. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh did an amazing job with this team year. The team run the ball, outstanding defense, they don't beat themselves and they play hard in the trenches. But the question remains if they are going to be a better team against the Saints. The answer is mostly likely a "No" but they are playing at home where they have defeated some great teams this season. Don't overlook this 7-1 SU and 7-0-1 ATS mark that San Francisco put up at Candlestick Park this year.

New York Giants

17 to 1 odds for the Giants, at sportsbook online. The Giants were amazing with defeating the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, but do they really have a chance of beating the Packers on their home field? We obviously have seen it before in the most improbable of circumstances when this team won the Super Bowl in 2008, but New York just doesn't feel like it has the ability to string another game together like the one that it just played, perhaps it will take that and a whole lot more in order to move on to the NFC Championship Game next week.

Houston Texans

Could be up in the heavens celebrating over the fact that they are here and have managed to get their very first post season game as a win but after the 31-10 romp of the Cincinnati Bengals last week, it was a very businesslike atmosphere. Their head coach Gary Kubiak has his team believe that it can win the whole thing. A chance is all that the Texans want this weekend in Baltimore and sad to say but that is exactly what they will get.

Denver Broncos

They have an indescribable 45 to 1 odds at online sportsbook on average. This team has QB Tim Tebow complete 10-of-21 passing against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the 10th completion went for 80 yards and the game winning TD in overtime. On that battle against Pittsburgh, the Broncos left oodles of points on the board. They can't really run the ball effectively, at least 6 out of 7 of Tebow's throws were total ducks, including some of the completed ones. At times, their defense can't even stop a quarterback with one healthy leg and with no offensive line in front of him. Yet in the end, that has been Denver in a nut shell all season long. The team was perhaps lucky to win games.
