First Aid Certification and First Aid Basics

Everyone should have good basic knowledge of basic First Aid techniques that can be useful in life treating situation this articles is focused on presenting an abbreviated version of First aid basics.

Chocking
This sections covers the chocking conditions in adults, children and infants and appropriate first aid help that should be provided in these cases. Chocking is a condition in which the person is not able to breath, speak or cough.

Conscious choking in Adults, children and infants.

First thing to do is like in any emergency check the scene and check the person, if help is available get someone to call 911. Secondly obtain consent to care for the person and then lean the person forward and give five back blows with the heel of your hand. After this give five, upward abdominal thrusts. Next continue back blows and abdominal thrusts until object is forced out, person can cough forcefully or they can breathe comfortably. In some case person may become unconscious. If the person is unconscious call 911 or local emergency number immediately.

The first aid steps for chocking conditions are same for children and infants. But one should be extra careful with children and infants when providing blows and upward thrust to make sure not to do it too hard.

Using AED

This section covers the basics of AED and its usage. First thing you need to do is turn on the AED and then wipe the chest dray of any liquid or sweat. Once the chest is dry plug the connectors where necessary. It is very important to make sure no one including yourself is touching the victim and say loud "Everyone Stand Clear!". Then push the shock button. It is necessary to continue with five cycles of CPR after the chock
