New Year Resolutions- Be The Change; Don't Just Talk About It

When you look at yourself in the mirror or behold an old photograph taken long time back, what do you see? You will criticize your own image. Usually we become critical when we look at ourselves in an old photo; may be about the wrong choice of clothes at that time or inappropriate standing or sitting posture. Look at the mirror and you will see what changes you must bring in your behavior, life-style and habits.

We are good at finding fault in others. As a matter of fact, we master this art. But analyzing oneself is a difficult task, unless you truly want to give up your bad habits. You all must once try to filter ourselves by pretending as if you are making a critical evaluation of a close friend or colleague.

Change your beliefs and you will change your life. Changing well grounded beliefs is an uphill task. Every year on the New Year eve, we all take vows to make positive changes in our thoughts, behavior and lifestyle, but all these promises go unfulfilled. Some of you may give up on making resolutions, as you are fed up of making repentances every year on those unfulfilled promises.

Make the list of the habits you want to work in the new year. Anticipating to change an old habit, is not a one day procedure, like putting on your favorite outfit. Old habits die hard. You would have to work on them on a daily basis. Mere saying that you want to change one of your habits won't bear any fruitful results. Just be the change you want to see in yourself.

Habit changes are for life. It is a long-term investment in your health or dreams. You may take diet food for a month or two, but you would stop doing it after the desired results appear. Consequently, you will regain weight in no time. Suppose you are under debt and your resolution in the new year is to get rid of the debt by restricting yourself from over-spending and extravagance. If you go back to your old habits after a month or two, you'll be right back in debt again. Such lack of determination leads to wastage of time and energy. Habit change must be incorporated in your life for years and years to come.

Work on one habit at a time. By picking too many New Year's resolutions for a single year, you are only setting up a disappointment platform for you. Break your habit in small steps that are easy to accomplish. Let go off the past. But you must strive to keep your resolutions.

Take some time to reflect on the gone year to find the lessons. And then wipe your life's slate clean and start over with new resolutions this year. A Happy New Year to all of you!
