Many pool games can be difficult for small children because of their size, lack of swimming experience, and current stage of development. It can be hard for toddlers to keep up with the "big kids" especially if the swimming pool is involved. There is no reason why your little one should feel left out of the swimming pool fun. The top 3 pool games for little ones in this article will give you new ideas for interactive pool games and enjoyment. Note: Alert adult supervision is required whenever any child is in or near a pool.

1. Red Rover

This game has commonly been played in large open fields on dry land. Red rover can also be played in the swimming pool. One child is chosen to be "it" while the rest line up along a pool wall. The child who is "It" then says, "Red Rover Red Rover, _____, come on over," filling in the blank with another child's name or "if your favorite color is green." This game will get children comfortable swimming back and forth between pool walls.

2. In The Pool Scavenger Hunt.

This pool game is recommended by Disney's FamilyFun.com. First choose a variety of objects to strew across the pool's floor -- anything that's sinkable, isn't made of glass and isn't sharp! Make sure there is two of everything you toss in (one for each team). Designate the shallow end for little kids and the deep end for bigger kids and adults and give each team a list of items to retrieve. The team that collects the most items on the list before the timer runs out wins the in pool scavenger hunt!

3. Lil' Leapers Game

This game is especially great for toddlers because they can sit on the pool ledge or pool steps or stand in the shallow end. Children toss the frogs from the game onto the floating lilly pad in the pool. Whoever lands the most frogs on the lilly pad and causes it to sink wins the Lil' Leapers Game! An adult should retrieve the sunken pad from underneath the water.

Keep the swimming pool an exciting and encouraging environment for young children by presenting them with some pool games they can enjoy. Not all children are ready for the deep end of the pool, but these top 3 pool games for little ones should give you some fresh new ideas for pool fun.
